Paul Heckmann -> Site Suggestions (3/4/2001 15:55:00)

I've been up since July - done a multitude of changes, but since I'm pretty new to a bunch of this, I'm sure I've missed others.

My site is www.FlixUSA.com

Please post your pros and cons.

Thanks,

Paul

The gif at the top of the page in the lefthand frame doesn't display and when you click on the Go To wwwflixusa.com link at the bottom of the about us page it opens both of your frames within the main frame. Since the home link directly above this link behaves the way I believe you intended this link to I would eliminate this link all together. The home link on your forum pages also behaves this way and if you click on the faq link it opens in a whole new window and there was no link back to where I came from even the back button on my browser was grayed out. To get back to your site I had to type in the address again.
I really hope these few minor things help you.

I think you forgot some content - I see:
This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them

Hi Paul.

Neither of your graphics opened for me. The one in the upper left corner apparently has not been imported into FP. The other one needs to be a .gif or .jpg.

I'm afraid your frames could be trouble. Unless you have express permission, capturing outside sites in your frame is illegal.

How do I fix the frames situation?

I've got thousands of hits on the site, but no one has said anything about this. Is this something to do with a certain type of browser?

Gil -> RE: Site Suggestions (3/5/2001 18:43:00)

Within a frameset is a <noframes> </noframes> tag set - you need content inside those tags for people who can/don't view frames. I use Opera some at home, just because it allows me to turn framess off, but I was at work using lynx when I tried your site.

Is it possible to simply add that into the top and bottom of the HTML to correct it?

Paul Heckmann -> RE: Site Suggestions (3/8/2001 14:13:00)

Well, I got the jpgs fixed at www.FlixUSA.com - but I'm not sure what to do about the frames issue.

Any suggestions?

BTW - Erica, the reason for the dual links back to the front page from any of the "Links" pages, is that a lot of people in my industry link to an individual page, not the home page. Therefore the one link for those in within the frame, and the other for those linked outside the frame.

Is there a better way to do this? Does it have to do with frames?

Goober -> RE: Site Suggestions (3/8/2001 15:45:00)

That is only one drawback to frames. You cannot bookmark a particular page, only the first frame.

Here's an article that explains some of the other problems: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9612.html
