Check it out!! - 3/6/2001 14:04:00
I just recently got my new golf site up for our City Parks Department. I would like everyone to give me feedback. It is basic now but I am in the process of adding Access 2000 database features with it and some flash items.

If you get a chance go to the course link under Rea Golf Course and click on one of hte holes and let me know what you think of the video idea on that course. I am debating pulling it from the site due to the fact it is not pulling the full video file and it takes a while to download.

Your feedback woudl be appreciative.

Thanks.

Hi, Greg -

I think you're right about the video. Nice idea, but not enough of a clip to take the time to download.

The things I'd recommend:

  • add text links under the graphic on the index page
  • use verdana or arial for the font
  • leave the background as white instead of the tiled golf ball
  • use a different background other than the leaves behind the links on Hulman Links (it's hard to read)
  • don't use brackets in file names - they could possibly cause problems - and keep everything in lower case
  • redo the graphic symbols on the location graphics. They are too small to easily read.

Overall you're doing great.

Hi Fellow Hoosier (I'm in NorthwestIndiana - check out my site www.northwestindiana.com if you have a bit of time. Ugghh, please don't critique!)

Glad to see your site. Looks like it has lots of helpful information.

Are there links back to the main page? I couldn't find them, but maybe I didn't look hard enough. Still, I suppose they should be obvious and easy to find for users.

It's my preference, but I really don't like moving page transitions. Seems the "big sites" don't use them, which might be an indication to stay away from them.

I like the looks of hulman.htm and rae.htm. They colors are different but have similar layouts and themes. I think people will be impressed with those pages.

I wish the middle circle (seal?) on main page was clearer.

And I've been to Terre Haute, once to the university there I think - Vincennes??? or am I getting places mixed up. And back in high school my "super cool" boyfriend raced motocross near Terre Haute. (sorry... flashback!)

A lot better than most golf sites I've been to. I might have to do a golf site for a charity tournament and have been looking for ideas.

How are you planning to use Access? Are you planning to permit online bookings?

I'm toying with the idea of an online registration form, but it makes me a little nervous

I am planning on using Access to build a online golf league scoring system. We are going to set it up to where each company has their own password protected page for the manager of the company league to go in and enter the names and scores of each player. Once it is set up then each week the manager of the league will enter that weeks score and it will automatically figure all their stats. Then the users will have a different password section to go into to see their league standings and their upcoming schedule.

Then I am also building a scoring software application with VB and Access that will allow the Golf Pro to enter the scores of all the tournaments and he will email me the table files and I will post the tournament results as a .ASP page, so when the user goes to the tournamnet page and clicks a tournament they will see the instant updated results.

In the works now and almost finished.
