Steps in setting up on-line purchasing site? - 8/21/2003 22:50:50
I have a client that has asked me to look into setting up a web site where he can sell a product. I have several web clients, but this would be my first on-line purchasing site. Can someone walk me through the steps to set up a site like this. He will be selling 5-6 products that may come in various sizes. The visitor will need to be able to choose the products they want to purchase, then purchase using a credit card........... Is this something storefront is used for???

yea my friends used paypal for their site EthnicFoodMarket.com and it seems to be working just fine for them, no problems at all

I guess my main concerns and questions are with the interaction between the shopping cart and the order form. I will probably (for cost and time reasons) purchase a e-commerce web template, which should have a shopping cart included. I am a little fuzzy on the interaction between the shopping cart and the order form. How does a shopping cart use the credit card processing form that is on paypal (for example)?????

The script behing the ecommercetemplate will handle that for you. All you need to is enter your paypal information or the information provided by whatever payment provider you are using when you are setting up payment options (in the admin control panel that comes with the template), and the script will handle the rest.
The ecommerce templates are an excellent choice - it is remarkable highly featured shopping cart for the money, beats a lot of way more expensive ones by miles, is easy to use and to setup and very well supported. And because there is so much set up already and it is all so easy to implement it also, in my opinion, beats even the free ones on price if you put any kind of value on your time.
