password submission problem with win98 - 8/27/2003 0:19:30
I have a FP2002 website that is password protected. Some browsing users complain [they are always using Win98] that they are submitting the correct username and password but it won't give them access to the site; they keep getting re-presented with the username/password window. All other users have no problems, and its OK for *some* Win98 users. Anyone found this?.....and how do you fix it? tia michael

I don't know all the details; here's what i do know: a) Windows NT 4.0 server b) Service Pack 6a c) MS Information Server 4.0 d) All current hot fixes (new hot fixes are added as soon as they are released by the Microsoft Corporation) e) Front Page Extension 2002 (v.5) (new versions will be added after testing). The "password protected" aspect is that the FP "web" security is set to disable anonymous browsing, and there is a username and password set up that has browsing access, which is the one which isn't working for these win98 people. Does that answer the question?
