Ok,, when he said ,, make copies,, does he mean copy them to notepad and name them 2003001 etc?
I dont know what he means by change the white links and the link text?
as for the title,, does he mean, like for me to give it a name,,? like Mysite.com?(several different names for all 7?)

One thing that I think would help you out here is to take a course on html. This would help you out a bit with understanding the terms and how to make the changes.

Being in this for the long haul means that you need to start learning some of what makes the pages really work. There are many online courses that are free to start with. I have spent the past year+ going through some of them. Then there are some that only ask for about 10.00-25.00 for the basic courses. About.com has a really good beginner course for html. And most of these are self paced so that you can work on them at your own speed.

I know that you can do this. I really know that you can do this. If you are intersted I'll get the link for you so that you can sign up for it.

I also know that it seems overwhelming at times as well. Yet when we get it it makes it all worth the work that we put into figuring it out.:)

Hey there! I have taken a course, and know html pretty well,, Its the xhtml and css I have to learn,, I bought a book on those, and I am studying my big butt off:) it's just I got confused to when he said copy them,, I was not sure if he ment to notepad? I am pretty sure that is what he ment,, but just wanted to be sure... My main question was, when he said change the links.. Maybe its that he would like me to change one link to ... (example) make a clickable link saying for instance "boat rentals"?
I know the html,,, Just confused on the questions... :) Like he said,, I cannot break the site,, I guess I'll just get on there and do it.. see if it works.. :)

What do you use to create the html page? Just use the same program. When you save one page, then save the same page with a different name until you get all of the pages you need.

Of course, the original page has the links and each page after that the links will need to be changed in order for the links to be associated with the correct pages.

Simple html stuff. You can do it.

copy
paste

rename

Keep at it, and if you feel like giving up, don't!!!

I find that when I reach that point for some reason, it is right after that I"ll give it one more try, that it seems to work for me.

Teaching youself takes so much work and discipline. There is so much to distract you at times. But in the end, it will be so worth it:)

Hello Kristy,

I take back what I said in my emails to you - don't worry too much about the coding other than with your book in hand just working out how it is put together.

Maybe make one or two small changes to the text and so on just to prove to yourself "Hey I can do this!" - A feeling that is always good to have no?

HTML and XHTML are the same except that XHTML must be written properly or the browser throws a hissy fit :)

But don't spend a lot of time on it. Get to really know windows instead.

You will find life much easier if you have a good grasp of how to use Windows efficiently. Microsoft (to be fair to them) have tried very hard to make windows easily usable and have packed quite a lot of features into it.

From your emails I gather you are running Windows XP.

Microsft have a set of free (and good) lessons on how to get a lot more out of windows. Computers are meant to be tools to make our lives easier after all so i think you will find it time very well spent. not just for learning how what I'm doing for you works but also for windows in general.

You might have to scroll down a bit, it might ask you to download some multimedia software.

Finally I'm glad you like the prototype's colours, I'll stick with those - the full version will look a little bit more 3d (or "sculpted" if you prefer to say it that way.)

Ok,, I am sure you guys are tired of hearing,,, " I feel so stupid" but I do... I'm sorry,,, I know the Gorilla's are resting, but maybe someone else can help..
I was given a demo page of my site.. there are links on top that he told me to change,, .. I can do that...... but is he saying to change them to 2003001 and 2003002?
then I am lost when he says then seven times copy and paste.. do I copy the whold html page then past it to notepad?
those are my only two questions.... I'm sorry to be so durrr about this. IT's been a while.......

OK,, I think I give up.... I don't know how to even test a page to see if I did it right... Maybe I just got into something, I cannot comprehend,,, I think I have done what I was told,, But , I dont know if it's right or not..

From what you said in other thread it sounded to me like you did it right. So I logged into their mail account and looked at what you sent - you did fine. :-)

Kristy, There's nothing to be sorry about. :-) so stop apologising. You're learning a heap of new things. You've been at it for what? Less than a week. Of course its confusing at first.

ok,, so I don't give up,, I got mad and got back on....... :)
I have another question.
I recieved a nice colored demo page for me to play with, to learn on..
Ok,, I copied and pasted it to notepad like I was told,, they were all saved in "my documents" when I click on it to view it,, it is completly different.. There is not color,, there is no sidebar, like in the original. it weird looking everything is on it like in the demo,, I think,, it just don't look good,, Is that the way it is suppose to be?

I think that is the problem, try just opening the original page in Frontpage and "saving as".
i.e. File/Save As.
