hiding email address in FP mailto forms - 9/10/2003 9:03:22
Hi. Is there a way to use the FP mailto form but to hide the mailto address in the html code? I am trying to avoid the email spam harvesters but would like to keep the forms as-is rather than start over in CGI. Thanks!

yankeeblues,

If your using the DRW or posting an address from a form on one page to another, the address of the email address would appear in a variable. In this case the actual address would not be visible in your html, only the variable name would appear.

- You can do that through frontpage?

If you don't mind doing some editing on the server, you MIGHT be able to use some javascript to encrypt the e-mail address.

Here is one generator you can use:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/encrypter.htm

What you will need to do is log into your server and then edit the page with the FrontPage Mailto Form, and encrypt the chunk of html that has the form.
This "MIGHT" work. I have never done it with a frontpage component, let me know how it goes.
