offmdan -> Main index (9/16/2003 19:47:46)

FP doesn't seem to reckognize my "index" page as the main page to my website. [:(]

I'd like to get it to check the hyperlinks that are in reference to other urls but if it doesn't reckognize my "index" page I can't use the feature... hum!

So how do I make my "index" page THE webpage that FP can acknowledge?

Thank you!!!

If you are using FP XP right click on the index file & choose set as home page.

Hi Corey,

Have FP2002 on 98. Guess we'll have to find another way to work this out.

Thanks for trying to solve this one. :)

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 20:38:34)

It should work since you have FP XP (FP 2002). You should be able to right click on the file & choose Set as Home Page

Corey - I think this is confusing people. There is no such thing as FrontPage XP - it's Frontpage 2000

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 20:43:36)

I guess so. For the longest tme I always knew it as Office XP, etc. Never thought about it really.

Sorry!

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 20:53:01)

So does that send me back to square one again?

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 20:54:05)

No, you are using Fp 2002 - You should be able to right click on the file & choose Set as Home Page

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:07:23)

I hate to say it sir,
but I don't have that option when right-clicking on index file.

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:13:53)

Shucks!

And I just installed the FP2002 upgrade! [8|]

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:15:21)

Are some of your options
Open
Open With
Preview in Browser
Cut
Copy
(Paste)
Set As Home Page
Rename
Delete
Publish Selected File
Don't Publish
Properties
when you right click on the file in your Front Page 2002?

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:27:20)

If I right click on the index file I get:

Select
Add to Zip
add to index.zip
Zip and email
Scan with AVG (my antivirus)
Send to desktop etc.
Cut
Copy
Create short cut
Delete
Rename
Properties

That's it!

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:29:12)

Open up Frontpage & right click on the file.

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:34:40)

That's what I've been doing all the time Corey.

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/16/2003 21:38:29)

OK sorry. Usually those options that you mentioned are when you click on My Computer icon on the desktop. I do not have Send to Desktop or Scan with the AVG when I right click on the file via FP. I have not seen this before since FP 2002 should be standard - no matter if it is an upgrade or the full version.

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 5:57:43)

I know what you mean.
Perhaps within FP2002 there would be a tools option or some other way that would be able to save it or identify it somehow as main webpage, but I haven't found it yet. "Help" hasn't been of any assistance on this issue.

womynaloud -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 10:32:02)

offmdan -
I get the menu you mentioned
quote:

Select
Add to Zip
add to index.zip
Zip and email
Scan with AVG (my antivirus)
Send to desktop etc.
Cut
Copy
Create short cut
Delete
Rename
Properties

when I right click on my index file when I open the web folder, but when I open the web in front page I get the options coreybryant mentioned.

What page is it seeing as the main page?

cecilc -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 11:32:34)

If I've read and understand your question correctly, ......

It may depend on your web host ....

Some web hosts allow "index.html" or "index.htm" as the "home page" when the web is published.

However, some web hosts specify "default.html" or "default.htm" be the name of your "home" page's file name.

My first suggestion would be to find out just what your web host is looking for in a file name that will be your "home page" after you publish your web.

Hope that helps ....

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 12:01:39)

Hi Cecilc,

My webhost has no problems handly my index.html file at all.

If I open my file with FP I go through "open file", then to "my documents"...

coreybryant -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 12:05:55)

Offmdan - try going to Open - Web & see if that helps.

Gil -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 12:16:57)

Where is "Open File"? You should be using "Open Web"

offmdan -> RE: Main index (9/17/2003 14:23:39)

O.K. folks!

Don't ask me how I did it, but I've now succeeded in saving my index.htm file located in "My Documents" as an official "webpage"! Hip hip, hourah!!!

You've all been so very patient and I thank you all for your input.

Just goes to show that there a still some good people on this planet
trying to give a helping hand to their neighbour.

I'm now in the process of checking the external hyperlinks, youpee!!! [:)]

Thanks again!
