FP navigation bars and CSS - 9/17/2003 11:45:23
I read the post on CSS Beveled button effects (very cool by the way pageoneresults), and I was wondering if that can be used with FrontPage's navigation bars. Im really new to this CSS stuff and all I can get my nav bars to do is underline and change colors. My background images dont show up. Im sorry but I dont have any way of posting this site as it is for my company's website and my boss doesnt want it posted until its finished.

The navbars are very inflexible - you'd be far better to use an include component or even better use a real include.

here's a link to what IMO is the best ever tutorial on includes:

http://www.bignosebird.com/ssi.shtml

Here's a link to outfront's tutorial on frnotpage includes written by abbeyvet one of the moderators here:

Hope this helped a little

Yeah I figured the nav bars were the problem. I wanted to keep the navigation bar system because it is so helpful when I add pages to the website it automatically adds them to the navigation. But I will check out the tutorials and see if I can make sense of the problem, thanx Gorilla!

Yah - they are convenient - but damned inflexible - the nice thing about ssi (that's the way to go IMO) is that in fact you'll only ever have to edit one file and bingo everything is updated.

I'm doing something at the moment that has a horrific nav structure. SSI just makes it a dream.

One tip - save the included file as a .txt file and get your server setup up to parse .txt as html.

And btw welcome to outfront.
