Take a look, please. - 4/10/2001 20:07:00
Hello all!
I have just designed a page for a site, and I have read through all the posts concerning Netscape 6, and I have Netscape 6 downloaded on my computer (curiosity got to me) along with IE 5.5. In IE, it looks fine, In Netscape 6, my site looks the same, however, none of the mouseovers work. If anyone out there has a lower version of Netscape and can take a look at my site, I will feel a little better, I think.

Hopefully, the mouseovers and effects will work in lower versions of NS. Any information from the NS users about the appearance, I would be most appreciative. The buttons to the right of the photo's are supposed to swap images on mouseover as well as swap the image to the left.

Thanks!

Well the good news is the image swaps work.
The bad news is nothing is where is should be. You better download an older copy of NN and take a look. The side bar is at the bottom

Thanks Shirley for taking a look for me. I went ahead and downloaded the previous version. GRRRRR. You are right. Suddenly I feel a little lost. I am going to see if I can fix anything. Let me know if you have any pro advice for me.

Hi,

I think the problem lies with using absolute psitioning for your layout:
Stuff like this will throw NN:
<img border="0" src="images/APC%20LOGO.gif" style="position: absolute; z-index: -2; left: 135; top: -2" width="245" height="91">

As you already ahve the content in tables, using background colours and spacer gifs in the cells should get everything just about where you want them.

Make sure that the widths of your cells add up correctly to the maximum width of the main table.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers
Andy

Thanks Andy from Spain! What I had already decided to do was modify my absolute positioning image and make it part of a larger image and use it as the background. It fixed it. However, there is still a VERY minor shift in the graphics between the 2 browsers. I would still like to make it appear EXACTLY the same on both browsers(is that possible?), so I will continue to work on it.

Any more known issues between rendering in IE and NN is greatly appreciated. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP. You are all HEAVEN-SENT!

Your page took 2 minutes to load. Did you compress your graphics?

The logo is overlapping the gold colored area in NN 4.7.

The page looks the same in IE 5.5 and NN6 for me as of 4/11/01.
As for the mouse overs....have you considered using Front pages hover buttons with the CUSTOM feature to insert your buttons rather then what you are using.
NN^ will require a Java2 plug-in download.

Just a note about FP hover buttons...avoid them like the plague! They are fraught with problems!
