Site evaluation - 4/23/2001 23:32:00
Feet to the fire time. We hired out the basic work to create the web site 18 months back. Since then I have taken a beginning html and Frontpage course. Have started doing the routine updates, new pages, and new products. I'm wondering whether to continue with the existing format, add asp data base, or start anew. The plan is to quadruple the product offering, have shopping cart, set up an affiliate program, (small) and end up with another 50-100 pages. Do you think what we have so far is self limiting? or, can I continue to add to it? Many thanks Scotty

Hi Scotty,

First you don't give a URL, but doing a little homework, I think you are talking about http://www.theloghomestore.com/

I think a little upgrading can help and I am sure some of the comments you get here will be very helpful. I had a problem with the photo's not loading on your site, and with your site loading slowly. It is perhaps just my computer, but I haven't noticed this on other sites.

I like your sun country logo. I think on your home page, I would keep that and then take the really pretty photo you have of a log cabin and move it to right below your logo. Then I would take your product catalog listings and place them below the photo in two rows. Then I would put the other links below that. I think your home page would look much better. Well that is my two cents worth.

Scotty, I gave up after waiting over 45 seconds for the site to load, and getting three Javascript error alerts. I'll try again later.

Seems to be doing a lot better now. All the photo's loaded this time. Your hit counter is the only graphic that did not load. Opps, said that too fast. Just tried another page and the Simpson capstan winch photo did not load. It is definately better today.
