Initial Caps - 9/26/2003 22:56:57
For reasons I don't understand, sometimes I get bigger bolder initial caps when I don't want them. It seems to happen only on hyperlinks, which are setup as follows on my style sheet a:link { color: #F86C20;font-family:Verdana, helvetica,sans-serif; font-weight:bold; font-variant:small-caps It looks fine in the "normal" screen, but when I change to preview or use preview in browser, the initial caps are bolder than the rest of the hyperlink words. They are all the same size, however. Any clues? Thanks Linda

quote:
font-variant:small-caps I believe this is due to the above. You are specifying small caps which will make any letter that is uppercase appear larger than the others. Due to browser differences, that uppercase letter may appear bolder than the others because it is a larger cap while the rest of the letters are small caps. I think what is happening is due to the font size you may be using. At certain sizes, bold will not show on certain letters, especially in a small caps environment.

Thank you! That explains it.
