FrontPage Error - User: please report details to site's... - 10/9/2003 20:39:34
I hope I am posting this to the correct forum. I have one user that I use FrontPage for. Recently, they have been having problems when people submit their forms. It doesn't work, and people get the following error message: FrontPage Error User: please report details to this site's webmaster Webmaster: please see the server's system log for more details I called the host provider, and they said it indicated there was a problem with my form. I had read other information on the web that said this might be because the frontpage extensions weren't all installed. The host provider said if that was the case, 200 other customers would be calling him. He wasn't particularly helpful. Anyway, I played around some more and found that I could get the form to work if I changed the email address to my own address rather than my client's address. However.... her email address as listed in the form is correct. The form is in a frames website, but the form alone is at address: http://www.ellisonmw.com/form&con/classreg.htm. If anyone could help me, I'd be very greatful!! I'm stuck! Thanks.

Hi gansjan, Welcome to the forum ... First off, it looks like your form is writing to your destination file page. If I had to guess, I think this current system might work better going to a page with a .htm extension. Honestly, however, I don't think it is good practice to send sensitive info, such as address and home phone to a page where others could access this info. It is customary for your backup to reside in the _private folder of your web. In most cases, this is sent as a text file such as form_results.txt, formrslts.txt, form_results.csv etc. These can be used as backup for your email results. To view the info in these files, you would open your site live, open the _private folder and subsequently the .txt file Whatever file name you use in this case, be sure it exists in the _private folder. If not, open a blank Notepad and name it, for example, form_results and save this in your _private folder. Try switching to text file using Formatted text, republish and see if this makes a difference. Also, you may want to empty your browser cache to be sure you are viewing the newly published page.
