Charles W Davis -> Theme gone fishing? (10/21/2003 15:32:51)

A few weeks ago, I noticed that the navigation buttons on one of my web sites were only placeholders. It now turns out that the Theme "Capsules" is corrupted, and no longer contains any banners or navigation bars.

Does anyone have a spare Capsules Theme that could be sent to me?

Hey Charles,

Have you tried re-installing FP?

Swirl,

No I haven't tried that.

Must I un-install first?

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/21/2003 20:55:30)

No, in fact, you may be able to just repair the installation. You should see that option when you go to run the installation.

Hope it works!

Swirl,

I have uninstalled. Rebooted the computer. Then installed FP 2002. The Capsules theme was unchanged.

I then applied a different theme to the site and published the entire site again. This time the buttons and banners exist, but no text is included.

Check your navigation view. FP gets the text for buttons and banners from the names shown in the boxes.

Swirl,

The server folks "manually" removed and reinstalled all FrontPage exentions. That solves the navigation problem.

However, the original problem of a corrupted Capsules theme on my FP 2002 remains. I have a functinal copy of FP 2000 on a second computer with the Theme intact. Is there a way to "export-import" a theme. The folks that sell themes must have figured out the "import' half. I use a couple of them, but Capsules is not a purchased item.

Charles:

Enjoyed your 1957 photo and story.

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/28/2003 9:45:15)

Hey Charles,

The FP themes are stored in C:/program files/common files/microsoft shared/themes.

Try copying the files for the "capsules" theme from the computer where it is working to the one that is not.

Hope this works.

Swirl,

No luck!

I renamed the original Capsules folder. Then copied in the ones from the FP00 system. Rebooted and didn't work.

These are the files associated with the Capsules theme on my FP02 sys. The top two are the only ones that exist from the working FP00 system.

Both systems are running WXP Pro.

Darn, I really thought that would fix the problem. Have you published the site to your server? Any chance I can see it?

Swirl,

http://www.myscacc.org/ Click on the "Opportunities" button. Notice there is no banner or buttons for navigation as is the case for all other pages.

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 7:37:27)

Hey Charles

How did you add your navigation to that page?

Swirl

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 9:27:39)

Swirl,

Thanks for sticking with me on this issue.

I specifically picked that page because it had always been a part of the navigation. The only thing that had been changed was to apply the Capsules theme.

This is the Normal view in FP with the Capsules theme applied:

Swirl,

This is the same page in normal view with the Layers theme applied.

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 14:41:32)

Have you tried removing the theme completely from that page only and then reapplying it?

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 17:48:00)

Swirl,

Once, the Capsules navigation buttons would no longer work on the site (its been in use for over two years), I switched the whole site to the current Layers theme.

I haven't removed all themes from that page (I wouldn't know how). I simply changed the theme for you to view, and then changed it back.

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 19:46:03)

Hi Charles,

Can you try removing the theme from that one page and then let me have a look at it?

Swirl

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/29/2003 21:30:07)

Swirl,

I removed the lhemes line in HTML.

http://www.myscacc.org/opportunities.htm

Thanks again!

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/30/2003 17:41:52)

Okay, can you please apply the Capsures theme back to that page again?

Swirl

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/30/2003 18:52:19)

Swirl,

Capsules has been applied.

Swirl -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/31/2003 20:05:19)

When you reapplied the theme, did you reapply the navigation also, or did that come back on it's own?

Swirl

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (10/31/2003 21:37:35)

Swirl,

The only thing that I did was to reapply the Theme.

Charles W Davis -> RE: Theme gone fishing? (11/1/2003 9:56:57)

Swirl,

Thanks again for the tenacity.

New pages and navigation are created from the navigation view. Click on a parent page, choose new and then rename the new page, open and apply the shared borders.

Changes in navigation are made (in navigation view) by drag and drop to the new location.

It is strange that there is so much more HTML than is in my source document. Specifically:
<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>Opportunities</title>
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">

<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="capsules 011">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb">
</head>

<body>
<h3>Opportunities to Contribute to Your Club</h3>

I have checked other pages, and find extraneous code there also.

For instance, this is what appears in my file for the Operations page:
<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>Operations</title>
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="layers 110, default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb">
</head>

<body>
<h2>Operations </h2>

Then this is approximately one-tenth of what appears when viewing the source from the browser.
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000" link="#336699" vlink="#999933" alink="#663366"><!--msnavigation--><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td><!--mstheme--><font face="georgia, Times New Roman, Times">

Hey Charles,

Is it possible for you to publish your local copy to a new location?
