Laurie Cesario -> CSS and Themes (10/31/2003 14:49:05)

Hi all,

I'm just learning CSS and am wondering if I can use CSS and a Theme in the same site? Each page of my site has a link to the theme AND to a stylesheet which controls our javascript popout menu nav bar.

Our site was created using a template that I purchased from Outfront and it contains a custom theme. Because I was so clueless starting out, I've formatted most of the text on all of the pages using the text dropdown tools in FrontPage. I realize this is NOT the way to go, so for any new pages, I'd like to do it right!

I guess my question is, if I want to control all of the text on my pages, which is the proper place to do it? The stylesheet.css or the theme.css?

Thanks,
Laurie

Well, both are cascading style sheets, so either will do the job. And while you can have multiple CSSs linked to a page, it's much less of a headache to maintain only one. If it were me, I'd modify the CSS that came with the theme, but only after making a backup copy. Make sure you don't have conflicting definitions in the file (like 2 for the <p> tag).
