in2golfz -> The Hillbilly Critic Site (6/26/2001 20:55:00)

I am working on this site and I must tell you it hasn't been easy so far. Must be because I am using a one page template instead of a web, not to mention it's kinda hard to get the changes uploaded to AOL to take effect sometimes. Anyway, its mainly just a template, and somehow I clicked on the page and it moved it over to the left, so it's no longer centered. Anyone know why? Also check out the message board hosted by multicity and try posting a message or two and tell me if the ads are annoying. Can't afford a true bulletin board yet. Also there is a trivia question link and sometimes the window pops up and I can't see the close box. This bothers me. And the graphic on the top left and right are sometimes not smooth. Man this website stuff takes alot of work. Oh yeah and the colors of the web and links too. Orange is for Tennessee, so I want to keep the orange.

This is the link for now. Don't put in the www or you'll never make it to the site.

Thanks!

Like it! Particularly as you're struggling with AOl (which moderator is it that calls it "Almost on line?"

The paragraph problem you've accidentally centred it is all - easily fixed

<p align="center"><font size="3">The message board is hosted by </font><font size="2" color="#000000">MultiCity</font><font size="3">

Select the paragraph and click the left align button on the toolbar or rightclick and select paragraph from the context menu.

My graphics aren't showing up in Netscape 4.7. That is the graphic of the moonshine jug. Does fine in Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

You have imported a .wmf formatted graphic. It needs to be a .gif or .jpg.

I would also suggest placing the following in your body tag: leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" rightmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"

That will get rid of the white area around the edges.

Where do I place the code that you mentioned in the previous post? Right after the main body at the beginning of the html code? Sory not very good at html.

Thanks!

I still don't understand where to put the html code to expand the boders and get rid of the white space. I have tried several placing in html mode and it shows up above the boders when I switch to normal view. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Sandy said, I would also suggest placing the following in your body tag: leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" rightmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"
meaning Inside the <body> tag

Also, you have the link, vlink, and alink specified, but not the background or text. Ihad white text on a white background at first.

It only took me about 3 hours to figure out that the code went like this, and after reading the last post. I was looking only for the <body> code instead of, <body, link,vlink,alink...> etc.....geez! I guess you mean I need to set the default colors for background and stuff too? Will do.

Thanks

Hi there's two very good (and free) downloadable guides:

http://www.visibooks.com/

http://www.trainingtools.com/

Just follow the links once you hit the site. The great advantage to the one from training tools is that they show screenshots of the html generated talk about which tag does what and so on.
