Critique for Yahoo/Looksmart Submissions - 6/30/2001 20:02:00
Hi Folks! I am, once again, relying on your collective wisdom.

I am about to submit my site to various search engines including Yahoo and the Looksmart Network and would love to have my site critiqued with this in mind.

Please visit http://www.IdeaAttorneys.com

Thanks,

John

Some metatags might help

http://www.selfpromotion.com
and
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/register.html

are good places to start learning about this

http://www.1stsearchranking.com/major-engines.htm I'm told is a very good service.

on your home page this text is practically imposssible to read

"The hiring of a lawyer i an important decision that should not be based solely on advertisements. Before you decide, ask us to send you free written information about our
qualifications and experience"

speaking as one of the world's worst typists it might be an idea to proofread that too (and the rest of the site.)

Otherwise I though it was a nice professional looking site.

The home page is very attractive, but I am a bit concerned about the lack of text. It may not hurt so much with Yahoo or others that use humans to review sites, but the ones who send spiders through will be coming up blank on keyword repeats and other textual fodder to index. Computers cannot see graphics.

Being almost entirely graphical, it is also rather slow to load. Most of the graphics should be saved as .gifs instead of .jpgs. Save .jpg for photos and graphics with gradients, like the one with the head and lightbulb.

You need to add alt text to your graphics. Right click the graphic > Picture properties > Alternative representations > Text.

Also, spiders need textual links to get to other pages. It's usually a good idea to have text links on your page somewhere. The bottom of the page is a good place if you're using JavaScript at the top.

It's a really nice, professional looking site. You've done a good job with it.
