olderthanhell -> You canīt handle the truth... (7/4/2001 15:07:00)

Hi!
My simple homepage is classes below all yours in quality, - but since I don't know of any other good forum to help me...
(I've only been at it for 2― months...)

It will soon grow considerably in content, and it's already used as a portal for my family - which is about 30 persons in all ages.
That's why it must be kept simple and clean.

I like the way navigation is made..
But, I'm not satisfied with the look and feel...
It is so very, very... amateur.
What should I do to keep the simple style?

AND... well...
To make it easier for you - it's all in Swedish But the general concept will still come across I hope.

On the first page the links on the left menue is external, but on the other pages they are mostly internal.

Not knowing Swedish...and being very graphically challenged myself, there's not alot I can help you with.

But I can suggest that if your not happy with the layout, you could buy a template, there are many available here and elsewhere on the web. I personally use the one's available here. Next step would be to visit these forums often, ask your own questions, but also read as many posts as possible for ideas.

Thats the approach I take.....
Good luck
mike

Hi Older...

Above advice is excellent. Is the approach I take too. I go look at other sites, get some ideas, definitely use templates, and generally enjoy reading Outfront. There's lots to learn there, and some very skilled people leading the way. All of them, extremely helpful and courteous.

Just curious though, I visited the site, didn't understand very much (Valkommen was pretty universal), but from what I saw...it looked pretty darned good.

But the stuff I look for, is clarity and simplicity. As long as your "story" gets accross, you've pretty much succeeded in my book. Keeping it simple makes it easier for those people who are just browsing to navigate and keep investigating... what else is there?

Why rock the boat? Looks good already.

Thanks!
I'll wait with buying a template for a while - since i'm also doing this for my own pleasure...

But..I now know what it is that I have to fix first of all..
The colors.
It looks like a... tivoli?
Cheers
Clemens

Hej! Hvodan gor det med dig? Faktisk du har gjorde mange fint sider. Brug din egen idéer - det virkelige fint.

you've done a very good site - stick with the design it's clear and simple to use even if I did reply in Dansk.

PS: I use the colour zone idea all the time too. My students love it - they always know where they are.

Hope it helps.

Man tackar!! (sträcker på mig lite) Jag hade aldrig trott att Du kunde danska?!

Thanks! I'll keep the color zones but perhaps with softer colors.
I thought I did use soft colors but...
Perhaps that is what gives the site an almost young/ponytailed/girlish look..
LOL

Goober -> RE: You canīt handle the truth... (7/6/2001 19:19:00)

Hi Clemens.

Have you been doing some work on the site? For some reason the pictures on the home page are not showing. They did earlier.

Also, the Lankar link is not working.

I like the colors and simple design. It looks to me like you're doing a good job...and more importantly...enjoying it.

Best wishes,
Sandy

Ok, so I should keep the colors as they are then???

Yes Goober, I've transferred all pics to another server... Some of the links got wrong in the process, but I think they are all ok now...

I also have to do something about the right marginals.. I use fixed width on the tables somewhere in the template and I have to fix that I guess..
not sure whats wrong but..

Goober -> RE: You canīt handle the truth... (7/9/2001 20:37:00)

The only color I seriously don't like is the black background on the first page.

Whether or not you change the colors should depend on your taste. It's your personal site.

The pics are back, but the Lankar link still doesn't work for me.

Thanks Goober!

Strange, the "Länkar" (which by the way means links) works fine here and I cannot see a problem with it...?

It's linked to this page:
http://home.swipnet.se/stroms/start/links/links01.htm
Can you se that?

Goober -> RE: You canīt handle the truth... (7/10/2001 20:12:00)

No, I can't see that one either. This is what I get every time:
