site problem! - 11/13/2003 13:44:13
Hi
could someone please give me feedback on one of my site pages but really need someone with smaller monitor size. I had an email from a visitor saying the tables were all messy and couldn't read the information properly like it didn't line up in the charts. Its confusing because no other visitor has complained and i usually get positive feedback.

Thank you in advavnce

Hey Wayne,

I took my resolution down to 800X600 and I didn't see any problems. I didn't look at every page though, was there a specific page the person complained about, or just the site in general?

Hi Wayne I didn't see a problem either except for the header wrapping a lower resolutions. The columns did kind of bunch up when I went down to 640 x 480 but you could still tell what info applied.

Weight Loss Wayne,

I believe that s/he had a screen down-sized. I got your tables/columns to "mess up" when I kept shrinking the size of the screen, smaller and smaller.

I had the same complaint from a visitor once. He wrote back that he was using an Opera browser and when he viewed my site at about 35%, the pictures spilled onto the text. I guess that while I am responsible, I am not going to design a site for someone that chooses to run at 35% of the screen. My loss, I know.

Finally, someone guessed it could be a 600 x 480 resolution issue. If that is really it, know that most recent monthly statistics show that 1.3% of surfers use that resolution. That once again, would be my loss, since I have neither the time nor inclination to design for 600 x 480. Good luck with the site.

Dave

Hey wayne,

New to the forums here so I'm not sure if my info is as relevant as others, but I have found out that if you shrink down the screen to 800x600 and then put the View Text size to biggest it does look a little confusing, but I'm not sure there is anything you could do about it. The user's preference for text sizing is their own issue.

Hope it helps, although I'm not sure it will.... :)
