This is great! I would welcome all comments and suggestions. I am a complete novice when it comes to computers and the internet.

I am working on getting the pics centered - they look fine in "view " format but something happens when they show up online.

Yep, me too now.

Apparently I looked at that site earlier and when I hit the link must've gotten a cached version...

Well, anyway, the cached version was pretty nice....

Message I am now getting is that a connection to the server cannot be established.

Thanks! Two more questions:
1.A friend has been trying to access my site for days using AOL and insists he can't get there. He gets the 404 error. Is there something I should have entered in the protocols (?)that would let him through or is it him? LOL!
2. Initially when I tried out my reply forms they worked fine. Today when I went in to test all of them individually they did not work . The error said "cannot run front page server extensions on this page" Is this my problem or should I email my web host?

Thank you all very much!
Joan

The extensions are a host issue. Can you use the page locally with PWS?

Just two short comments; the navigation on your site is a little inconsistant, you may want to explore using a more standard navigation scheme to insure your users always know how to get there from here.
Also and this is just my opinion, the font color is a little hard on the eyes, almost as if I had to really "look" at the text to read it. Could be just my eyes. All in all I think you've got a good one there.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comments. I am a complete novice - what does "Can you use the page locally with PWS?" mean? I know that a few weeks ago I tried the forms and they worked fine. My host said he changed the server certification (or something like that?)when I contacted him because i couldn't get into my site for a day. Maybe he needs to redo the extensions now. I'll email him. Funny you mentioned the navigation... I found that the hardest thing to figure out. It seemed like I would get one page straight and then all the other pages would change. It drove me nuts when I was designing it. How do I get to a more "standard" navigation? I agree on the font color ...would black be better or a dark gray? Thanks again!
Joan

Hi Joan.
PWS is a Personal Web Server. It is available on-line, sorry I don't have a link handy for you, but it allows you to simulate IIS to test ASP pages and the like. really handy for testing forms before you publish them, and to allow testing should something go awry.
As for the rest, again this is just my opinion, others may see it differently. The navigation. If you were a customer visiting your site what would you like to see? Should the navigation bar always display the major categories within your web, or just a way to get back home? My feeling is I want my visitors to be one click away from any major category within my web. So I use includes to insert a nav menu on the left, and it remains consistent throughout the pages. There are many different ways of creating a good navigation scheme, but here is where keeping it simple is this best bet.
Even if you stay with the navigation you have now, the one thing that you may want to reconsider is the use of "up" in your menu selection as this can be confusing...
As for the font color..Try a couple of different contrasting colors, but I think for the most part, black or something close to it will provide the necessary contrast against your background.

I'm still getting this:

Forbidden: You don't have permission to access / on this server.
