ODP dont understand it! - 11/18/2003 13:33:02
Hi everyone

I dont get whats up with open directory project, i have submitted my site twice in the last 8 months and they haven't listed it or got no feedback from them.

I feel my site offers unique information for free and I'm trying my best to keep it honerable to genuinely help people lose weight.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can get listed in ODP or even yahoo?
i dont want to risk losing $300 submitting to yahoo if ODP want even list me.

Thanks in advance for the great advice all you people offer!
Wayne

I hear you Wayne :)!

First thing, does the category have an editor? If so e-mail them. If not go up one level, e-mail that editor. If that doe not then I would put a shout out here...

Word of caution, it is a "volunteer" directory. If you do post stay to facts only, keeping in mind they are there to help.

When I start any new site once there is any content up I submit it to ODP. This way when the site is completed I then can state "Look how long I have been waiting". I admit it is not the way it should be but you know, play by the rules but bend them.

I have two sites that I am starting to promote. I played this way since no categories that I was submitting to had editors.

Brian

I took your advice and emailed ODP editors but as i was looking in the directory i discovered to my horror another site listed in there. This site i found about 2 months ago and it almost copied my ideas even with the domain name!

How can this happen it is unbelievable. The site simply repeats information that almost everyone knows about. So how can these type of sites get listed surely they are of less value to surfers!

Human editors to make a better directory? it makes me wonder!
