is there a standard (w3c) accepted way to arrange information in a style sheet?
i would assume to start with the <body> tag
then the <a> tags

Hi Skip, here are two links for you to check out. Also look through all the threads in here. I'm sure that you will find some great information that will help you out with learning css.

there are tutorial sites listed in some of the threads as well.

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/

http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/

I hope that these help you out.

No. It is upto you completely how you do it.

It makes sense to group your tags so for aexample:

/* These deal with the body and global declarations */

stuff

/* These deal with the left column */

stuff

/* These deal with the central column */

stuff

/* These deal with the right column */

stuff

and so on - but how you do it is up to you.

okay, thanks
i have spent a lot of time at the w3c training site but had not found anything on organizing style sheets
i guess i can just look at what they start with and what is next

i am understanding the basics pretty well
sometimes you can get lost if there is a lot on the style sheet
i like things really systemized
i think i need to work on consolidating or grouping tags together

thanks again!

You are welcome. - Once you get a bit more familiar with CSS you will find the technique discussed by my colleague in this posting:

Very useful and helpful.
