web spider listing - 8/19/2001 16:10:00
My site listing in search engines such as Web Crawler is based on my FP 2k left and right side "shared border" links to my pages. My page link name don't promote my site to web searchers. What is the best fix for that? Will a "contents" page with more descriptive links solve that? Where is the best spot on the home page to link the "contents" page?
How do you place a "site description" that the spiders will read first?

Take a look here. You should learn how to use and set up tables and include files instead of shared borders.

If you go to http://www.agilecor.com, I've got the pages there set up that way. Save a page to your PC and look at the layout of the tables.

Thank you for the delorie.com links, which make the change a bit more concrete. The link to your site was "dead," so please post it because I'd like (need) to veiw it.

The link is not dead - it just includes a stray comma

FP 4.0

Will a "top" shared border with descriptive text and keywords be the text that e.g., "Web
Craweler" uses in its listing of my site?

The top border text (no links) is thirty-three words, and I have left and right borders with link
text that I want to exclude from ths listing.

I got listed in MSN today. The listing is exactly what I have in my title and description meta data.

I paid the express submit fee last weekend (Looksmart). I don't know if my listing was a result of paying the fee, or being linked from another page that got spidered. My site showed up as a listing on the "linkor's" site today also.

I also paid the Inktomi and Yahoo express submission fees. I'll keep you posted.
