Frontpage Extensions Error - 12/26/2003 0:02:39
I have created a website using Photoshop for the layout and Frontpage 2003 as my HTML editor. I am hosting the files on my server (DSL connection) which is running Windows 2000 Server. I have installed Frontpage 2002 Server Extensions. I can't get port 80 to work with my DSL connection for some reason, so as a work around, I have been able to use port 9000 and did a re-direction from my DNS host (Sitelutions). Now, when I do www.website.com, it works and re-directs me to direct.website.com:9000. However, when I try to "Submit" a form, (my page has [FrontPage Save Results Component] ), I get this error message: Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page: "http://direct.website.com:9000/contact.htm" When I try to recalculate the Frontpage Server Extensions 2002, the page does not work. I get this link: http://www.website.com:9000/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmdll.dll?page=recalc.htm Now, if I take out the port from the link, it works fine and I can administer my frontpage extensions. Well, I need to be able to rectify this issue in order to get the frontpage extensions to work. Can anyone help me?

Hi. How are you? Thanks for your immediate reply. Very much appreciated. Happy Holidays as well. The website information is sort of private so I have PM'd you the information. Please let me know if this is sufficient.

Really? That's awful. Are you sure that it has to use port 80? Then why does Microsoft give us an option to use any port of our choice? So, if I don't use port 80, I won't be able to use the Frontpage Extensions? I just need some verification. Thanks for your response!

AMysticWeb was great help and provided me with the necessary troubleshooting steps in order to resolve my issue and now the FORM page is working just fine. The resolution was to remove the e-mail recipents from the Form Properties. I know have to figure out a way to get the results of the form e-mailed to me. But I guess that is another story. Thanks Mike for all your help.

The resolution was to remove the e-mail recipents from the Form Properties. is this what you were shooting for? There are many "Form Handlers" available, and some are installed as part of your server install. They need to be configured on the server and for that you need some NT widget that I don't know about. not on windows servers

Thanks for your help sir. And thus, my search for a proper "Form Handler" begins. I'll keep you up to date on my findings. But if you find something you think will be useful, the information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
