Well, since my resolution is set at 1280 X 1024 I didn't figure I couls view your site? Much better to develop a site viewable at any resolution - what about the 640 X 480 my pocket PC renders?

But, I clicked on the 1024 link and got This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them. - seems like you forgoit something?

Oh, come'on! Lighten up.

Gil is Gil and he isn't trying to be a jerk... he's just adding a comment to make people think about how others may be viewing the site.

----------------

Patty -

On your index page in FP click on the No Frames tab. Put content here that you want search engines and viewers not using frames to see. You can also click the Frames Page HTML tab and put the coding directly between <noframes> </noframes>

I'd much rather see a site that will adjust to different size windows than having to pick between different versions of the site to enter. It may be trickier to set up, but it'll be much easier to upkeep one version instead of two (or more).

The index page graphic was very slow to load on my 24k connection. This page also should have some kind of text content for the search engines to pick up.

You're doing a great job with this, but I'd suggest re-thinking different versions for different resolutions.

Linda

Sarcastic? Where?

Yeah, a spell checker would catch some of my "fat-finger" spelling :-) Too bad I don't have time...

I know from experience the first time you read a critque from Gil it can seem harsh. But anyone who has been here for very long at all knows what he is refering too.

If I could post in the moderators forum I would suggest to Gil that he modify his signature file to include the long list of things he picks up on right off the bat when a new member comes aboard.

It would save the inevitable qustion... 'How can I fix that?"

But then again, maybe I wouldn't have learned as many things as I did the hard way.

Luckily 90+% of the folks visiting your site won't have nearly as many problems viewing your site as Gil.

Just a thought.

Hi Patty-

If you do rethink the different resolution thing, reconsider using frames, too, there's really no value in them since your navigation could be put in an includes page and then Gil could see your site too.

I took a look at the News page and it's a lot of text to read. Just like flash intro pages or frames scare off some visitors, too much reading does it to me. You might consider adding some callout blocks with main quotes in a larger font, like "...we have a gift and responsibility to lift people’s spirits." (probably not the best one but I just grabbed that one).

Also don't forget to give your pages meaningful titles to replace "New Page 1".

Good luck with it!

Hi Patty23,

Loved the site. Hope it all goes well...you have definitely put some time and effort into this one.

There are two things, that I see:

1) The images you have for your navigation...they just don't seem to convey the eloquence of the rest of the site. They do jump out at you, but I felt they took something away from the site. Maybe an image with a nice script font, instead...just a thought.

2) I went into the forum and checked out some of the posts. I found that on a 56K connection, it loaded 'fairly' well, except that the images people were adding in their replies may cause slow loading in the future. Just something to consider.

Very nice.

Hi,

I am always amazed when people do fan sites. The devotion and doing it just becuase and not for the money, nice .

I liked the color theme overall, nice blend.

Only thing I noticed in Netscape 4.X is the top frame/shared border is being cut off (resolution 1024X728 and I was viewing the 1024X768 site). The second row is cut off around two thirds of the way down.

I agree on the forum posters (?) using images in their sig files but I see this alot and I am on cable so no biggie here.

Nice site,

Brian
