deanselby -> ?'s about wireless service cost/kb (1/7/2004 8:50:31)

Hi, I am located in an area in Europe which has no internet connection but T-mobile has a wireless GPRS system which charges .50cents per 175kb (non-contract rate, using pre-paid cards). Does this sound like a ripoff? I am not even really sure how much bandwidth I use simply being online, does anyone know what some "average joe" user might consume in an hour? I calculated I sent/received 4,000,000 bytes in twenty minutes, but that works out to be then $60/hour for this T-mobile service. Am I calculating something incorrectly. It seems awfully high, especially if I sign a contract I get unlimited GPRS internet for $30 a month! Thanks for any thoughts! Dean
