intuitive navigation - 1/7/2004 22:49:49
i have been working on my navigation and i am still not sure about it
i have my own opinion but i am wondering what users will think

there are 3 ways to navigate
1 the menu on the left and top of main pages
2 the menu on the picture gallery pages
3 all the cropped images scattered around on all the pages

is this intuitive navigation or just confusing?:)

I went to your page, and it didn't take me too long to process the navigation structure...although it is not as straight forward as it could be...it took me a second to get the idea that the navigation along the top of the page matched the top section of the left navigation...I guess that's the part where I would question the intuitive design...

two ways you could change this if you feel you want to...

1. change the top navigation to read 'Our Company' 'Projects' 'Services' 'Activities'
then have drop down menus with the sub categories...that way it matches the navigation on the left.

2. Remove the 'Our Company' section on the left...since it is already the top navigation, that seems less redundant to me.

just my opinion, I don't know what everyone else will say....

other than that I really like the design of your site....crisp clean, and uncluttered...

thanks for your help
i removed the 'our company' from the left navigation
the top menu is a 'map' and the text is part of the graphics
i can change that easy enough but i don't know how to make a drop down menu
i am using 'css' with no tables, although that might make any difference

one thing that bothers me is the links to the picture gallery from all the pictures throughout the site
you can be anywhere and click a picture that takes you to the gallery
i am not sure if you will easily know how to go back without using the browser back button

thanks again
