2 sites using Outfront templates... - 10/9/2001 22:08:00
I just built 2 new sites utilizing the nice templates from this site. Any feedback is welcomed.

Thanks

NEF,

For the NcanoDV site:

Overall, a nice site, but I think with a few tweaks, it could be 'really, really' nice.

I'm getting a side-to-side scroll at 800x600 on the Home and Instructional pages.

On the Home page you have the table for the middle content set to a fixed width of 688, which is probably the culprit.

For the instructional page I think it is the images in a 2 column table, in the center section. The images are too wide for your column widths to have any affect at 800x600.

For your Logo (NcanoDV), I would recommend you NOT to use a font such as 'Copperplate Gothic Bold'! It may not be a common font on many of your visitors PC's. Create an image using the font and place the image in its place.

Also, you might want to add a little color to the site. I don't think you need a major contrasting color, but something to break up the gray and white.

Last...and this is really personal opinion...I would move the logo over your left navigation and the "Home | About Us | Contact Us" to the right side of the screen at the top. Just seems to make more sense.

For PropertiesElPaso.com.

Great template and you've implemented it well.

In the header, you may want to add some type of image in the top left corner, just to break up all the red.

Is the 'PropertiesElPaso.com' logo supposed to be a different red than the header area? If it is, I would round the corner on this image, just to keep the site look and feel.

Last, make sure you keep your font sizes consistent on all pages. Your 'Sections', 'Content', and 'Feedback' pages are not the same as the other pages.

I like the Verdana 10pt (size=2), as on your Home, About Us, and El Paso pages. I would personally make that the same on your other pages as well.

-------------

Overall, very nice on both sites...good luck.

Thanks for the detailed look at these sites and your time.

With respect to the NcanoDV site, I too noticed that some of the pages were too wide on a different computer, but I thought I fixed it. Your point that the frame I used with the pic as being the culprit was noted and I will look at that.

Bingo about using an image for the NcanoDV instead of typing it in. I did do that on the other site logo, but did not make that a consideration for the NcanoDV...will do!

As for the rather grey/plain look...I sort of lean that way with this site and as time goes on and I add more "content and pic's" let those live'n up the pages. That is why I choose this particular template...simplicity.

As for the PropertiesElPaso.com, that is an older site that I recently moved and as you pointed out there are some inconsistentsies on some of the pages. I loaded up a backup of the site and cut/paste the newer content, but alas I did not cath it all.

As for the logo, indeed I choose NOT to match the two red/s...but rounding off those edges would be sensible so that it does not look like I was trying to match.

Again thanks for your time....love them templates!

Looked at the NCanodv---is that the name of the business? how do you say that? I couldn't remember it and I couldn't remember it...anyway, the site looks okay but not real colorful, kind of blah, and some of the pics were blurry, and for a business specializing in, from what I can tell, visual presentation and communication, you would probably want to make sure everything was crisp.
Also, on the home page, the right side text bar is off of my screen (1024x768)
hope this helps

Thanks all...I think?...no seriously I want to thank all for their time and posting.

With regard to the quality of the pi'c, you are correct that they are not as sharp as they could be. All of the pitures were taken off of a video project and captured as still images fom the time line (NLE) so I need to look at that from a capture standpoint....

As for the side to side scrolling...I apparently disrupted the templates I downloaded by inadvertentlt chaging some of their dimensions. I need to either correct that or rebuild from another copy.

Again thanks...I will repost to have you guys check it out again.
