Bad Gateway? - 1/12/2004 21:56:09
I put up a web site for our local church almost a year ago. Everything worked fine until several weeks ago when our site was suddenly offline. Our web hosting company said the problem was on their end and that they would have to delete and the re-set out doamin. Meaning to me that I had to re-upload our entire site. However, whenever I try to publish (FrontPage 2000) I get the following error:
502 Bad Gateway
Bad Gateway
The following error occurred:
[code=DNS_HOST_NOT_FOUND] The host name was not found during the DNS lookup. Contact your system administrator if the problem is not found by retrying the URL.
Please contact the administrator.
Isent our hosting company an email asking what could be wrong. They sent me the following reply:
Hi,
request has come from unauthorized mailid.
seems domain doesn't have any nameserver attached.
Please request queries with authorized mailid.

I have no idea what this guy is talking about. I don't know if the problem lies with me or with them. Thinking that it was with me. I uninstalled frontPage (deleting everything) And then re-installed FrontPage making sure I had FP extensions installed on my machine. But all of this to no avail. I still get the same error message. In fact, if you go to our web site:http://www.nileschristianassembly.com you will see the error I'm talking about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did the Hosting company do something with the DNS servers? It looks like the name isn't resolving, (in other words, the name is not being found once the request gets to the hosts name servers).
That would mess up both Frontpage and Internet users.

When I queried dotregistrar.com with a linux whois program, the whois returned NOT FOUND. Something appears to be messed up in your domain name registration information.

Thank you for all your help. I have contacted DotReigistar.com to inquire as to why our registered domain (which was registered with them on Aug. 26th of 2003 and doesn't expire until Aug. 26th 2004) is not being found? This is a very difficult problem to understand. However, as long as they can resolve whatever the problem is, I'll feel a whole lot better. I will post when I found out anything!
