edd111 -> Web Site- mucho improvement. Does it pass??? (10/14/2001 20:42:00)

I've been using all of your wonderful, very cool suggestions, and would like your final 'stamps of approval'. Am advertising a 'bleaching special' this Monday in the newspaper, so hope the site looks good on both netscape and aol, etc.
Thanks, Ed:

Sorry to say this, but it's still a mess in Netscape 4.7...same problems I pointed out earlier. The words in the navigation are overlapping. There's a very wide vertical blue line to the right of the navigation and the text of the page is overlapping that.

In NN there are little boxes scattered over the page and when I tried to view it in IE, it wanted to download some kind of Japanese support that was going to take 23 minutes to download. When I chose not to do that, instead of boxes I got two small vertical lines next to each other, kind of like lower case "i's."

It would be a good idea for you to download NN 4.7 so you could do some testing on it.

Finally, the photos at the top of the page are still distorted and grainy...not very good quality.

Best wishes,
Sandy

I'm using IE 5.5 and saw the same things as Sandy. Those things that look like lower case "i" are actually upside-down exclamation points littered through your code. Also looks like you copied and pasted from Word and your code is terribly bloated with unnecessary stuff. The images are really grainy and the text is aligned differently on the pages I visited. I also got the Japanese language download message as soon as I accessed the page. Usually that makes me suspicious enough to leave a site. It might be that those upside down exclamation points are causing that. Try to get rid of them and post again and we'll look again for you. Getting NN is good advice.

Hi. I used Microsoft IE (downloaded it fromAOL, so I assume its the latest!), and NN 6.1, also from AOL, and my website looks great! If I assume that many people don't have the latest NN (such as the example of 4.7), how can I download an earlier one from the net, as I am dying to see the stuff you guys told me about, so I can correct it.

Also, is it always safer to NOT copy and paste from old website pages in Front page, and just re-type everything???

Thanks again,
Ed

One problem could be no </BODY> tag....

Look here for a download of NN 4.7: http://home.netscape.com/download/archive.html?cp=dowarc

You can copy and paste text from an old website but it will pick up unwanted line break tags (and sometimes worse) you will have to clean out.

I see a table on each page set at 114% wide. Netscape doesn't like inaccurate code.

Having the latest and greatest browsers doesn't mean you have the ones the majority of Internet viewers use. Many people tend to hang on to what they're used to as long as they can.
