One of my goals for 2004 is to develop a host of tools for the search engine marketing industry. My programmer has these genius moments on a daily basis. One of his latest moments involves a real time price comparison shopping engine that he has developed. I've just rebuilt his backend to be W3C valid and also switched everything over to CSS and absolute positioning. I was hoping to get some feedback as to the viability of this product. Right now, I see it as a possible alternative to setting up directories as a means to drive traffic and revenue. This particular tool would only work in certain applications. If anyone has a moment or two to review and let me know what you think, I would greatly appreciate it. We are getting ready to package the product and begin our promotion. This is a nice feature. I just came across a site that used this type of scenario to show all vendors who were on line with them. It listed from least to most expensive, for the item that I was searching for. It also listed CC types, in stock/out of stock. It even listed shipping carries and amounts. When I used this I thought the site supplying the feed had a great thing going. I however, thankfully, priced out the part at www.pricewatch.com and found they were a little high [:@]. The finding spooked me from ever using their tool again, pity as it was nice. Your results are fast and nicly presented. Looks nice. Out of curiosity what DB is being utilized? Take care, Brian

Hello Reflect, its a MSSQL database. This particular tool was developed with the Mom and Pop business in mind. There are some major players in the price comparison industry and my programmer doesn't even want to go there. The main feature of our program is that anyone who can surf, can set up a price comparison portal, shopping engine, etc. Most of the majors require that you submit a datafeed to them. This can be a problem for most, even one with a basic understanding of technology. Our service does not require a datafeed but, it does require someone to manually surf to each page, select the price, add a short description and you're done. Try out the Demo, it's really cool.

I should add how this tool can be of benefit to those reading this topic... This would be great for AdSense revenue. Set up a price comparison portal, run your AdSense where applicable. Set up a price comparison portal with links to your affiliate products. If you are the low price leader in your industry, set up a section on your site that compares your prices with those of your competitors. The list goes on and on...

Pageoneresults, This looks like a pretty good thing. Results are nicely presented. I like the idea if you are the low price leader in your industry, you could set up a section on your site that compares your prices with those of your competitors. How will this integrate with other programs? Which ones? Erin

We will be offering two solutions I think; the first will be a hosted solution, the second will be a package solution. The asp is 100% portable.
