Luzprple -> Guestbooks and Forms (1/25/2004 0:04:44)

[sm=help.gif] Hi, I am really new to Frontpage and I need some help. I have created a website in FP for my church www.faithandpraise.org. I had a guestbook on my site before and wanted to have one now that I have created my site in FP. Anyway I created it with the FP Guestbook but I am wondering how to delete an entry. I do want it to show on the page but I tried to test it thinking I could go and delete it but I can't figure out how to delete the entry.
Also, Is there a way to change it so that it puts my divider bar between each entry and not include that T1 etc. in the entry?

Another thing is I want to create a testimonies and prayer request form with similar fields how should I do that? I also want the results to show up on the website. But I want to be able to delete the entries at my discretion.

Thanks for any help.

Hi there Luzprple

Not sure about the Guestbook issue. I always tend to use third party guestbooks (just type Guestbook in Google for a selection) as I personally think the Frontpage guestbook isn't really up to much.

As far as the prayer request form, this would probably best be done use ASP. You could create a form in Frontpage and set it up so the contents are posted to a database file which you could then access from another page on your site. I set up a similar thing a few year ago - only for local events, and it worked really well.

You can get more information here at these links

and post any questions you will undoubtably have on the ASP and Frontpage Database forum.

Best of luck

To edit or delete an entry in your guestbook, open your "live" site in FrontPage (the one on the Internet, not your computer), then open your guestlog.htm page and edit as necessary.

To get rid of the "T1" labels, open your guestbook.htm page (the one on your computer), right click on each field and select "Form Field Properties", then change the "Name" field to use whatever labels you want. Save the page and republish.

You can also get rid of the "Remote User" field by right clicking on your guestbook.htm form, selecting "Form Properties", then the "Options" button, click on the "Saved Fields" tab, and uncheck the boxes at the bottom under "Additional information to save".

Hi,

How do you remove Remote User when you have FP 2000? I don't have the boxes.

Thanks,

John
