PSP8 pro needed, please - 1/27/2004 7:21:55
I have a shape that I made in psp8. What I need is to turn this into a preset shape, so that I can size it to different sizes and use multiple shapes of this one in a design.

If anyone can help me out on this one I would greatly appreciate it. I thought that this would be easy. I needed this for my logo course, and of course being stubborn I can't seem to get away from this one shape that I wish to use.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can take this shape and do this. Or walk me through it. I have tried to trace it, but I guess I'm not too steady yet with my drawing pad.:)

Can you convert it to a vector somehow?

I know...REALLY helpful.

Try selecting it, then see if it will let you "Convert to vector layer" and see if that works.

Of course, you did ask for a "pro" so I had NO business responding! LOL

LOL I've given you a few things css wise, and I"m not a pro with that, lol!!!!!

Anyhow, your more of a pro then I am with all of this!

I have tried all to get this to work. I now have some things marked the same (hmm howd I manage that?) And I can't seem to find them to delete them out of the shapes! I think I have made a royal mess here, lol. I just might have to go back to default? settings? aarrgghhh, Why can't I be satisfied with a shape that is already in there? NOOOooooooOO not me!:)

Do a google search

"Create custom preset shape paint shop pro 8" or "create vector object paint shop pro 8" or something like that.

maybe because the choices are rather....dry. LOL I wanted a custom shape myself, but couldn't find one in the presets. You could also look for "preset shapes for psp" that you can download. there is a TON of free stuff on the web for PSP...custom brushes, tubes, you name it.

sniffle, do you realize how much time I have spent searching? argghh. sure lots of shapes, but none that sort of combine a 1/2 circle with a rounded rectangle. Hard to describe the shape that I am looking for. I need a break from this, I'm off to read some css positioning. sheesh, this self teaching can get to you sometimes! But, it is still FUN!:)

LOL, glad ya'll like my siggy. I have another one that I used on another group, supposedly a quote of Phyllis Diller: "Housework isn't bad for your health. But why take a chance?"

I'm sorry I've been no help at all to you, by just offering the obvious solutions.

Did you look at the jasc help center (there are also forums there for PSP users) and see if there are any tutorials there for making your own vectors?

ROFLOL! Phyllis Diller, what a classic act! I loved her.

I did look up tuts for this and found one, yeah, got the circle, but when I tried to add the rounded rectangle, well it went down hill from there. So I had a perfect 1/2 circle with a rounded rectangle that was on it, but it had the line under the 1/2 circle. In order to erase this, it takes it to a raster. argh. There has to be an easier way!

Did you merge the layers, then "select" just the part that you don't wnat to show then "cut?" LOL, can you tell I'm really just another blind man here. I don't do m uch with vectors so I don't know the limitations.

I've invented some "ways" of doing things too. LOL

I created a beautiful graphic one time and for the life of me, I have no clue what I did. It was a "Victorian-esque sign" for a business with little circle cut outs in the corners and had a lovely 3d effect...it really did look awesome. I had to take it out of my portfolio though because I forgot how I made it. I do know that it took me about eleven hours to make it, when someone who actually knew what they were doing would have had it made in a half hour. LOL

LOL, wait till you read this one! I had this shape in here that I tried out, in psp8, it was a sort of victorianish thing, and I know I wasnt imagining it as my son was here while I was playing with it. Well it didn't turn out right, the graphic that I was playing with, so I deleted the graphic, AND, Now that I would like to play with this, I CAN"T FIND IT!! I searched high and low online to look at brush shapes and presets, but do you think I can find that one???? NOOOOOoooooOOO. I think that psp is a curse right now! roflol.

I did it!!!!! I created a shape and exported it to shapes. Only thing is that for some reason the shape keeps saving as New Shape, no matter how I name it!

What I did was created the shape with the preset shapes tools, then erased what I didn't want. Then somehow I activated the drawing tool, traced it (LOL!) and exported shape. Only thing is that I don't know how to change it from always being new shape? I could do soo many things with this now that I know how to do this part of it. I go to export shape, which brings up a box, I name the shape deb1 etc... However, there is an item name that I can't seem to get out of there, which happens to be "new shape" and it won't take the shape name that I am giving it. If I export the shape and name it as a gif, fine but I need the .pspShape extension in this one to use it. (psp8)

I'll send you a link via pm when i get it onto a page for homework. I created a new one, but can't save it! arrrggghhh.
