Host headers & FP2k on Win2k Client unable to open webs... - 2/19/2001 15:16:00

Web Server: Win2k Server, IIS 5.0 with FP Extensions installed.
Unable to access FP webs on the win2k server with FP2k on a Win2k client. I get an error telling me that the web requires a password, and I do not have permissions to access site.

However, I can go to any Win98 machine with FP2k and access the same web. I cannot access the webs with FP2k on ANY Win2k client.

I discovered part of the problem. It has to do with host headers being implemented. If multiple webs are hosted on a single ip# using host headers, the web cannot be accessed using fp2k. If the web is given a unique ip#, then it can be accessed with fp2k via fp2k extensions. Webserver is Win2k Server with FP2k extensions. Active Directory is NOT implemented. Please help. Thx in advance.

Turn off NTLM on the server.

Thankyou. I will try this. I had posted another reply but removed it because I had mis-read some other info about NTLM.

NTLM authentication (which is integrated Windows authentication) can be turned off in several places, i.e. telnet server administration or per web site. It there a more centralized place to turn it off? Also, what is the best authentication option to use in place of NTLM? I know my way around 2000 somewhat well but have never had to adjust security authentication protocols before now. I thank you for your time and help.
