Can't publish - 2/21/2001 22:45:00
Help! I'm back with the same problem I had several days ago. I've yet to be able to do anything about it.I'll try to take it step by step. I'm pretty sure the pages are ready to publish. When I hit the publish button the small earth icon on the bottom of the page begins to rotate, showing an arrow every little bit. I also get a notation on the lower left which reads "resolving publish destination on server". After a short time I get an error message box which reads: "Could not find a web server at "www.blahblahblah.com". Please check to make sure that the web server name is malid and your proxy settings are set correctly. If you are sere that everything is correct, the web server may be temporarily out of service." While this is on the screen the little world icon is still spinning and the "resolving publish destination on server" still appears. My web provider has said to publish it to "http//:blahblahblah.com" not "http//:www.blahblahblah.com".I have tried it both ways, and every other way I can think of, and I get exactly the same error message. I am using global internet solutions as a space provider. I have Netscape 6.0 currently as my default browser. When I try to publish do I just turn on the computer, open frontpage and get into page view and use the publish command or do I need to open an internet browser first? Should I change the default browser to explorer for this operation(I may do that anyway as I'm finding netscape 6.0 can't open a lot of operations)? I'm open to suggestions at this time as I really want to get this page upsometime soon. thanks in advance for any help Steve
