Frontpage Authentication error - 1/29/2004 8:32:32
I have a user getting the message "the server does not appear to have any authentication methods enabled" when he tries to open the web with FP2002.
Also when he tries to open the web in network places he gets a permissions message. The user has always had permissions, why would this happen all of a sudden.

The server log is also reporting:
Microsoft Frontpage Server Extensions Error #2005d: The server extensions were unable to access the file "author.log". Please check the file permissions.

Something very similar happened to me - I had to ask my ISP to reload (or possibly update, I don't remember) the Front Page Server extensions.

I hope this helps...

Did the settings in the Internet Information Server (IIS) change? I am not sure about version 6, but in the older versions the authentication needed to be set at "Basic".

Another thing to try is to just set up another account for the user to test, see what happens.

Is it possible for you to post versions?
