Permissions ????? - 2/28/2001 23:16:00
Hi Everyone, I need some opinions. I am just stumped, as well as my boss. We have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server with IIS 5. We are trying to run an ASP script that when the button is clicked the browser starts the download dialog box. The script runs fine on the server (when we test it in Visual FoxPro). But it will not run in the web browser. The page says that it is finished, but we see a blank screen. The problem is that we are trying to rule out that it is a permissions problem. Could there be a place were we need to add permissions that we are missing? Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks Sue

is the file that you want the user to download a self extracting zip or .exe file and if so is it sitting in a directory located in the root web and if so does the web have script/execute permissions enabled through IIS?------------------ storm... wooooo hang on i was hoping for a yes or no.if the answer is yes then what is happening is the server is attempting to run the program vice download it. in this case what you would need to to is make a virtual directory off the root web put the files you want to have downloaded in there and in iis make sure for scripts and executibles it has "none" selected. ------------------ storm... Oh. Well, the file is a .pdf file generated by a routine created in FoxPro. It resides on the System directory of the web server. The routine places the .pdf file in another directory, but it is not located under the wwwroot. That particular directory we have granted anonymous access permissions. The best way to describe it is when writing to the directory the system doesn't like - it appears as if the report prints just fine but the file never shows up.
