Search on an NT Intranet - 3/14/2001 23:12:00
I have developed in FP2000, a site that will run on our NT intranet under the main company page. It consists of several hundred pages of documentation with indices (alphabetic & numeric). Our webmaster/site admin doesn't want to run the FP extensions on his server and suggested using IIS instead. Without a search capability, the page is less than user friendly but I am new to Frontpage & this sort of server. Could someone give me a clue as to where to start with developing a search page to work with IIS? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

IIS comes with an extremely capable search engine, your admin should be able to direct you to a page that you can use, or have modified to suit your web.

It does word, excel, htm, basically all text files, so youll find it real good.

Ask him for a demo

Thanks Spooky for the reply. I've been reading up on IIS and it should work fine provided we come up with the sample page to modify or a script (and it seems IIS will work with just about any scripting language). Our Admin is new and is not an IT professional so a demo is a fairly remote possibility (although I told him where the folks here told me to find the samples) but between the two of us we'll come up with something. Really appreciate the folks here putting me on the right track!
