FP PWS - 3/14/2001 17:29:00
Hi, Installed FP98 on Win98 along with FP PWS - FP won't hook up to it, although PWS is up and browser can access default web site - when I run FPSERVWIN.EXE (FP Server Administrator) to configure, there are no ports displayed in port window...The example in my FP book shows 2 ports - does this mean I need to install FP server ext's? When I try to, it wants me to point to a *.cnf (configuration) file and I am not sure what file it wants...am I even on the right track here? anyone? THX!

Microsoft once told me to use the MS PWS which comes on the win98 cd under the Add-Ons folder. they said it was mush better than the FP PWS. I would uninstall the first PWS and then try installing the MS PWS. Here is a link for you to check out concerning the PWS.http://www.studiodeluxe.net/pws/downloads.htm And, yes, I would install the extensions as well. Hope this helps. ------------------ Life Is Grand! What Gene says is good advice, but why mess with the stupid PWS at all? I do ALL my editing direct off the live server. MUCH aggrevation is avoided that way.I have MUCH trouble publishing to backup on my hard drive; FP-PWS is up and running, and it tells me PWS is missing. STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! Just avoid high blood pressure and edit off the live server. The man or woman who invented this idiotic concept of PWS needs to be barred from the web. (Oh, by the way, when I backup I go in, delete my FP extensions, FTP the whole "public_html" or "www" directory to my hard drive and then re-install my entensions.) <yawn> next... I NEVER use either MS-PWS or FP-PWS and life is sweet!!
