server will not accept password - 3/25/2001 15:18:00
Just setup a new account on a Win2000 platform and attempting to publish the site from FP2000. When the user name/pass prompt comes up I fill it in with the correct info, but the server rejects it and the dialog box pops back up. I CAN access the site using same user/pass info via FTP, and through the host's control panel. Host has reinstalled FP extensions but it didn't help. I DO have client for MS networks installed, and I do have "Logon to network" checked in my dial-up settings. I have also tried the four logon settings under Internet security settings. No luck, and my host has run out of suggestions.

Anybody?!

Problem solved. I found a post from Gil:

"Sounds like they have the Use Windows NT Security box checked. Ask them to
check and make sure the only authentication is "Clear Text"

which I sent to my host. This is the reply I got (and the problem is now solved!)

"I checked the settings on the directory security. The box for "authentication is 'Clear Text'" is checked. I did take off "Integrated Windows Authentication," however."

Hope that will save somebody hours of frustration.

Thank You,Thank You,Thank You,Thank You,Thank You,Thank You,Thank You!

This problem has been plaguing me for 2 weeks and this was the only place that even came close to providing an answer. If I can ever do anything or provide any service to enhance this community, please don't hesitate to ask.
