Everytime I try to publish changes to my site, I get an error message that says the server timed out. It takes 5 or 6 attempts to get the proper connection. Is this a problem with my ISP or my web server? ------------------

this can be real common for a couple of reasons: 1) lots of noise on the local line 2) your web host is saturating the servers with alot of sites and the server is bogging down or your machine is running low on resources because you have a lot of apps open, least likely but can happen. my money is on 1 or 2 ------------------ storm... Most of the time I am trying to post updates after midnight, so I would think the phone lines would be relatively clear. I also shut down all other programs when I am publishing. I have suspected that the web host's server is the problem. I didn't have this problem until a few weeks ago. I've had so many problems with this server provider, that it isn't funny. I contacted them about this issue and haven't gotten a response yet. They'll probably try to blame it on something other than their server. ------------------

my bet is on the host side, like i said it could be they're saturating the server with lots of webs or they have some automated processes running such as backups that are eating alot of cpu cycles and causing the problem. ------------------ storm... You can completely circumvent that problem by opening your site directly off the server and doing your changes that way. When completed, or at intervals during your edit process, simply hit "ctrl-s" to "publish" your changes automatically. When opening your site, simply go to File>Open Web> and then enter the complete URL of your site, enter the PW and UN, and you're off and running! Tarheel, If I make changes as you suggested, then the updates will not be saved to my hard drive????? ------------------

No, they wont be saved to your drive, but perhaps weekly (depending on your level of paranoia ;) you could publish from your server back to your own PC (Specify only changed pages if necessary) ------------------ Spooky "I am Spooky of Borg.
