Server config - 3/27/2001 16:34:00
MIS was nice and gave me an old NT 4.0 server box to play with as I see fit.
(If they only knew......)
Heres the scoop on the box:
FP2k, IIS 4.0, I have full rights to do as I please, but I am trying to set this up for possible migration of our intranet from its current box to this one, If I can get my way, so I want to do this right.
So far, I get the following error when I try to look at a database asp page:
Database Results Error
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

Tips on what I need to do to the server?

RE: Server config - 3/27/2001 16:50:00
I found another post that seemed to work for me and has seemed to have solved my problem.

From post "Securing asp pages" Originally posted by pcguy:
If you are on an intranet (which I am), instead of using NTFS permissions, go into IIS and disable anonymous access and enable the Windows NT Challenge. (In IIS 5 it's called Integrated Windows Authentication)
Then in ASP you can "grab" the user name using the server.variables

Hope this helps!

It did help. my database pages work now.
But- is it "secure"? will that modification keep local users from hacking the intranet server?

I am on an intranet, behind a company firewall maintained by professionals. (thank god! or I'd be in trouble)
only company employees will see whats on the intranet.

Its 2 different questions, #1 is permissions # 2 can be used, as long as the users are allowed browse access at an NT group level (in FP Permissions)
