Not sure what you mean by "fast"? The server speed - IE: PIII750?; Response time -IE: ping?; ??If you mean the time to deliver a request for a HTML document - it will depend on where you are, how much traffic is on the 'Net, what time of day it is. There are lots of variables. ------------------ Gil Harvey The Host Factory Resellers are our speciality "Is there another word for synonym?"

Pinging is useful mostly to identify a domain's IP address. You can get a loose feel for how fast it is, but don't rely on that info alone. You can also get a good idea how fast the server responds, but again, don't go writing any Master's thesis with the info. The speed info on a ping request is most indicative of network speed of the test packets. It's virtually useless in determining server speed. However, If you do a ping request and get no response, you know something is amiss with your server.
