CSS Sizes - 2/16/2004 17:13:49
Okay, I know I've seen this at least a dozen times here on OutFront, but I'll be darned if I can find it now! How wide do I need to make my master CSS container (it has a background image) if I want my site to look decent at most resolutions?

Wouldn't you just style your body?

body {background: img (url of image);}

And you would use repeat x or y depending on how you want it to cover your page.

All this learning and not yet using the css, I hope that I have this right!:)

She is, in fact, a she and her body is styled...it's just the wrong style!

As for the matter at hand, the page I'm working with is one I've...er...borrowed some code from. I really like how they've completely managed to separate style from content and I actually am trying to learn from it. One of the things they do is have a master container on the page. (I've read that this technique can compensate for some cross-browser glitches.)

Of course, now that I've looked at the code again, I realized that the body is exactly where they put the background image. :) Guess I should've paid more attention to what I was trying to do!

ROFLOL!! I totally understand exactly what you mean!:)

This is exactly what css is for. The total concept of css is to separate your style from the content.

No problem, if we don't ask then we arent learning how to do things. And it isn't anything to be embarassed about either.:) Ask away when you have something that you aren't sure about.

With the current jackpot at $26 million, three or four of us could share it... If we all win, it'd be bananas for everyone!!

Has nobody told you that gambling is bad for you?

Especially when...... as in my case...... you never actually win anything. :)
