Virtual Server - front page extensions - 4/19/2001 15:11:00
I am having a problem where I have 2 sites c:\inetpub\wwwroot\WebA and c:\inetpub\WebB. WebA works perfectly fine. We just added WebB and it is telling me there are no server extensions. I try to configure the extensions, but it tells me that "the server extensions are on a disk-based web. What does this mean? Do I have to make WebB a virtual directory in order for the extensions to work? I can see the web using the browser, but functionality doesn't work because it says there are no extensions.

Please help.

I'm not a server guy, but I believe the web must be inside wwwroot for FP to consider it to be "on a server."

Disk-based means "not on a server."

I was having a very similiar problem but just found the fix for it. See the MS Knowledge base Article Q264920 which explains the fix for this. Basically you need to remove all the _vti folders from your web folder and if you have a index.htm or default.htm file move it temporarily out of the web too. Now you should be able to configure the server extensions in the MMC. Once this is done you can move your index or default page back. Hope this helps!
