Using CSS to create seamless background - 2/19/2004 22:28:42
Hi,

What's the CSS code for creating a seamless background?

Does the image have to be a certain size to achieve this?

Thanks,

Herman

I think - that you need to have an image that is seamless and then CSS will tile it.

You can make an image seamless in a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. It alters the edges of the image so that they'll blend together nicely without apparant breaks.

Or, are you just asking how to get the CSS to repeat the image for you, in other words, to tile it?

Thanks, looks like I first have to figure out how to create a seamless image

What size does an image have to be to cover the whole background?

I am thinking of a possible shortcut ie grab a large enough graphic from the web and use it for the background.

Problem is I still would want to page to load fast and not become too heavy.

Your thoughts..

Cheers

In image can be as big or small as you want. It will just repeat itself over and over and over ad infinitum till the page is covered.

One thing you can do, if you don't have a graphics editor to make your own, is do a google search for free seamless backgrounds free tiled backgrounds.

The smaller the image the quicker it will load.
