Can't open local webs, only webs on public servers - 5/3/2001 20:29:00
I have a peculiar problem, and I think it's related to TCP/IP but don't know how to fix it.I have uninstalled and reinstalled FP2000 and the PWS and extensions. However, when I try to open my own webs (on localhost) they do not open, although FP is looking for them. I can open my webs that have been published to public servers and work on them live, but don't want to keep that up. I've looked at MSKnowledge base but haven't come up with anything. I've checked my Windows SE installation and updated corrupt & missing files. Any ideas on what to do besides a complete delete/reinstall windows and all software? Thanx. Carrie

Where ( on your hard drive) are these sites stored? They should be in Webshare/WWWRoot - if so try http://127.0.0.1/name of the site------------------ Gil Harvey The Host Factory Resellers are our speciality "Is there another word for synonym?"

Tried that; no luck...something about not being accessible. That is where they are located, though....and why I think it's a networking problem, not an extension problems. Any further ideas about where to go from here? I'm running windows98se, and am not connected to a network. It's all internal. Thanx. Carrie

Ok this may work may not...kinda a back door trickCopy the website folder to another location on HD...(e.g D:\sitebackup) Then remove all the _vti and _private files from newly saved location.. Next delete orginall or zip it and delte it(i would just in case, sites r alot of work) Now open FP and open web, point to NEW loaction.. it should ask to convert to a Web..say yes..close FP and save..(here a scandisk and defrag might be good idea, but not neccessary) now copy that NEW web to original location and try it again Hope that helps..I am lookin into further resoultions.
