Personal Web Server - 5/3/2001 16:29:00
I'm just done a new installation of the Office 2000 suite, including Front Page 2000, on a newly upgraded Windows ME PC. Can you tell me where to find the Personal Web Server, or from where to install it, as it doesn't automatically appear in the control panel as it did in Win98. I've looked on the Office disks, and the ME one, without success.

Many thanks

Rian

I seem to remember that PWS is NOT included with ME.......(ME users please correct me if I am wrong...)

You can download it from here...

Right Ryan - it's not included with ME and in fact MS warns that it doesn't support running PWS on the ME platform....

Is there an alternative then, or must I upload to check every alteration?

Many thanks for your responses.

Best solution: Load Windows 2000 Professional - it includes IIS5

2d solution - Go back to Windows98 SE

3rd solution - Download and run PWS on ME and hope it works out

PWS works fine on ME....

They "don not support it" due to security isses that arise when PWS is on...
Which is just about any hack out...but whos gonna hack ur site, as if they would even want to No offense

I now have PWS running fine on ME, despitethe fact that Norton Antivirus doesn't seem to like it, and keeps throwing up virus alert messages... many thanks to everyone here for steering me in the right direction.
