Well, my first question is - what is it for? They might work as a banner for a gamers site, or a sci-fi site. But they would seem out of place for a professionals site - like a consulting practice or some such thing.

My first thought was that they weren't "finished". It appears that there is some "static" within the text from the effects that you added. Same with the rings surrounding the text.

Their for the top of a software site, software written by myself, just wanted to know which one people thought was the best and any alterations they would like ot see, before I decide on a color scheme for the site

Hmmm...I like the blue one best, but it reminds me of an overexposed photograph. Too much contrast and too much "white" or something. Personally, I don't care for such a large bevel edge - but that's just me.

I'd go with the blue and white scheme though, because it seems more techie or something. :-)

:)

I think it's just too harsh looking - soften it up a bit and make the bevel less pronounced. I've got to get schooling my kids right now but maybe this evening I can play with it and give you an idea of what I mean.

Ok, you know where I'll be when you've had a play, no rush, I just want to know what color scheme everyone likes before I build the site, so there's no rush.

Giomanach,

If you don't mind may I play around with your banner/logo/text? I'm trying out some graphics package and that will give me something a little more tangible to play with.

I don't mean to replace or critique what you've done. Just have a source with a little vested interest in to bounce some of my creations of off and it will give me a standard to follow as I learn these things.

Oh, by the way I did two already. Here they are:
www.horsehoundbar.com/glim.htm

I kind of am going off of your software design thing so my first two passes were to put in a representation of a CD disc wrappped around your text.
Hope you don't mind.

Not meaning to sound High and Mighty, b'cos I'm far from it, but the main eason why I post my garphics etc is for people to look at them, and if they don't like them show me what they would like etc. So if you wanna have bash at making some for me, go ahead, I can't stop you

I like it dave. It's a little heavy at 46K but I'm sure that can optimized.

Perhaps we can have a Glimangia Art Festival, with everybody displaying their Glimangia creations.

All things Glimangia.

Minix's red look good but probably better with a blue instead. Dave's is excellent.

My 25-cents (inflation) worth

Looks like I need to alter my software collection, I'm using PSP7, Amapi 3d 4, and Photoshop, what's everyone else got?

Everything I did, I did with RealDraw. I just got the 30 day trial yesterday. After that it is $55.00. It is very very easy to use.

I also have the trial version of PSP8, but haven't used that yet. I have 60 days on that so I'll wait a bit to get into it.

microsoft paint

In my books that doesn't count:)

I'm going to take a look at Real Draw, and play around with it see what I come up with, but it will have to wait till I've finished work:)

Dan

PS Keep coming with the images:)

BTW Dave, I notice, you used a black background for your go? A bit unorthodox, but it works, plus, I like my images to be around 700px wide, unless I have two smaller side images

oops the black bg was from my first attempt! forgot to change it...
i can - obviosuly - make a 700px wide one but i just very roughly matched the size of yours (well the text size really) it's easy enough to re-jig to fit a spcified area.

Well, I was thinking of having the main top image curve round into the vertical nav???

if you want to use it...
if you have fireworks or something you can open the vectors in layers with then i can send you the original fireworks png. otherwise you'll have to let me know exact size and any bg colour and how it will fit into any existing design.

RE: Is it any good? - 2/25/2004 9:17:24
I want a generally blue color scheme (extras colors optional) no wider than 750px, main top image no deeper than 125px and main nav no deeper than 290px. Colors, blue, like my blue on white image, bg color, a shade of blue that will compliment to images etc.

Is that enough?

so you only need my bit to be 125px high and then you can add you nav on the bottom? is that what you mean?

Considering the nav is going to be vertical, no, the page is to be no wider than 750px, and I like the images to cover the top of the page, and I want it to curve down and carry on to provide a background for the vertical nav
