Form/Server Issues - 5/7/2001 22:49:00
Several times in the last few months, my forms, which the info is to be emailed to me, develops problems.

Most of the time, there are no error messages, the customer gets a confirmation page, but we do not get the email. I have to contact my host, and then they "fix" it.
(I am in the process of getting this fixed as we speak).

Several times the confirmation page does not appear. Again they "fix" it. (This has happened with two different hosts)

My question is two fold. Is this common (I suspect not), and what causes problems with the forms developed in front page?

Would it be more reliable to use forms not developed with front page? Neither of these forms use SSL. The one form is how our customers order our product. This is not good when we do not get the order, and they think we did.

I am also looking at switching hosts. I am hesitant in doing this, if I do not see an improvement. I am however in the process of examining hosts listed in another thread.

I have checked the front page extensions, they appear to be in place, and the support tech says they are not getting error messages, but aggreed that the email is not being sent. The problem has been forwarded to people on top of him.

If it is of any help, our url is www.automobilearchives.com and the pages affected are the "list request" and "order form" pages.

I hope I have not been too long winded (or fingered!)

Thanks in advance.

I have my forms up and running again. The host claims the frontpage extensions get corrupted from updating the page. Any feedback on this? Would hand coding my forms make this more reliable? Yes changing hosts is definately being looked into.

How are you updating your forms? Via FTP? this could corrupt the extensions.

Thanks for the help, but I publish with FrontPage. I am aware that updating with FTP can corrupt the extensions.
