Personal Web Server - 6/14/2001 20:32:00
I began using FP 2000 about 6 months ago. what I have noticed recently is that when I edit pages on the server or on a local drive FP is very very slow.
teh IT guys are telling me to use the PWS.
I have only played with it for a few mins.
Any suggestions on how to get started with PWS and how to edit pages with FP on the PWS?
Thanks

I personally use the Peer Web Server. It works pretty well, except I can't run ASP pages on it.

Peer WS is pretty old, but you can run asp.exe if you are really desperate.
I recommend upgrading if you really must use asp.

Speaking of ASP, I want to start to learn it. Where is a good place and what do I need for it.

Save yourself the hassle using PWS and edit off the live host server. PWS is the biggest fishing-line-tangle I have ever seen. Just load your web off the host server and then edit, and then hit "CTRL-S" and your work is automatically saved on the server w/o having to mess with save-then-publish process. Yuo might want to publish to your backup every now and then, and for that you'll need PWS, but aside from that I would dump PWS as an everyday tool.
